Happy Chinese New Year!

新年快樂 Xīnniánkuàilè

Resident Chinese dance troupe fan dancing

Across our campuses, red lanterns and tangerines (symbols of happiness and health) have been appearing, and residents of all backgrounds are gathering together to celebrate the Chinese New Year, which officially begins today.

2019 is the Year of the Pig, and people born under this zodiac sign (that is, in 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007) are said to be hard-working and generous. We're celebrating the holiday with a host of special activities, including a talent show where residents perform traditional Chinese dance and music, and a Chinese calligraphy and painting class.

To all who are celebrating the Chinese New Year, we wish you 恭喜发财 / 恭喜發財, great happiness and prosperity.
