Trio of laughing older adults in leafy green setting

Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly (JCHE) is now 2Life Communities.

Why the name change?

Buddy Up!

Moving to a new place is stressful, but our longtime residents are smoothing the transition for people just moving in.

Golda residents Larissa and Lucy

Moving to a new place is stressful, but our longtime residents are smoothing the transition for people just moving to Golda Meir House. Through our Buddy Program, experienced members of the 2Life community volunteer to orient new residents, introducing them to friends and showing them the ropes.

Our buddy system creates opportunities for mutual support and social interaction, from a familiar face at lunch to a sympathetic ear. This is especially important for women like Larissa and Lucy, the buddies pictured above.  Almost half of women age 75 and over live alone, and loneliness and social isolation are the #1 public health threat for older adults. Community is the antidote, and we're grateful to all our buddies for helping each other age in community.
