Last week, 2Life Communities President and CEO Amy Schectman participated in a delegation from LeadingAge to speak with legislators on Capitol Hill. They visited the offices of Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Ed Markey, and Representatives Ayanna Pressley, Katherine Clark, and Joe Kennedy III, asking them to expand funding for HUD's Section 202 program, which helps preserve and expand the supply of affordable housing with supportive services for older adults."

According to HUD’s "2017 Worst Case Housing Needs Report," only 34% of income-eligible seniors receive the rental assistance they qualify for. Amy and her fellow advocates urged legislators to approve $600 million for FY20 in new construction funding within Section 202 , which would allow for a modest amount of new construction of this critical housing resource.

You can add your support for Section 202 funding by calling or writing to your legislators. Find their contact info here.
