Part-Time Prep Cook

Join the 2Life team as a Prep Cook at Shillman House in Framingham.

Position:  Prep Cook (Cook 3)
Reports To: Shillman House Chef Manager
Status: Part Time: Friday and Saturday 10:30am to 7:30 pm and Sunday 8:00am to 1:00pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with kitchen duties

  • Assist with preparation of meals and catering orders.

  • Produce entrees, side dishes, and sandwiches

  • Assist with breakfast preparation.  Communicate with site representative regarding breakfast service.

  • Assist with writing Daily menu.

  • Help to ensure that all food and supply orders are received and stored in a timely manner.

  • Serve dinner from line.

  • Clean kitchen after production.

  • Maintain a high standard of sanitation.

  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Work independently

  • Stand for up to 8 hours

  • Lift items weighing between10 to 50 pounds

  • Constant bending and reaching as high as 8 feet, using step ladder if necessary

  • Walk and deliver meals through overheated hallways

  • Handle equipment at temperatures as high as 500 degrees

  • Handle temperatures as low as 10 below zero

  • Handle knives and other sharp objects appropriately and safely

  • Ability to stand, bent over, washing dishes for up to 5 hours if the need arises to cover the dish area.

  • Set up/break down serving area and dining room if needed

  • Ability to cover lead cook or cook 2 position when needed.

  • Be flexible


A willingness to learn and follow Kosher laws.  Must be ServeSafe certified. Have ability to work independently at times.  Must be proficient in English.

This person must have a flexible work schedule and a working knowledge of sanitation and food preparation.


A minimum of 3 years’ experience preparing, cooking and serving restaurant quality foods.
