Governor Charlie Baker signs the Housing Bond bill

Last Thursday, Governor Baker signed the Commonwealth's largest Housing Bond bill ever—$1.8 billion to finance the production and preservation of housing for low- and moderate-income residents of our state.  With less than 24 hours' notice, JCHE hosted 200 guests for a signing ceremony with the perfect backdrop—the active construction site of Harry and Jeanette Weinberg House at 132 Chestnut Hill Avenue in Brighton.

JCHE was honored that Governor Baker chose JCHE as the face of his efforts to champion affordable housing, with wrap-around and support services that encourage a holistic approach to housing. As the Governor himself said, "JCHE is a great example of the marriage of housing and social support for people as they age."

And of course, we couldn't agree more with our local State Rep. Kevin Honan, a constant champion of JCHE and affordable housing in MA: "It's critically important that we treat our elders with such respect and dignity as JCHE does."
